Rabbi Sherman was assistant and then associate rabbi at Temple Shalom in Naples, Fla., from 1999 to 2006. He is a graduate of Yale University with a degree in history and served as a legislative and communications assistant to U.S. Sen. David Boren before attending seminary at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, from which he received his ordination in 1999.

He and his wife, Morgan, are the parents of a young son, Shai.
