Torah Portion: Nitzavim - Vayeilech
You Stand [This Day] / [Moses] Went
Deuteronomy 29:9 - 30:20  

SUMMARY
Moses tells the assembled people that God's covenant speaks to them and to all of the generations who will follow. (29:9–14)

God warns the Israelites that they will be punished if they act idolatrously, the way the inhabitants of the other nations do. (29:15–28)

Moses reassures the people that God will not forsake them and that they can attain blessings by following God's commandments. (30:1–20)

A High Holy Day Message for Parents of School-Aged Children:

Another New Year means yet another opportunity for your children to engage in the observance of our High Holy Days. The High Holy Days come around for a few days each year and I hope that this year, when your children ask if they can go to school or do something else during the High Holy Days, that parents will lovingly guide their children towards attending services at TOL. As you consider your decision, think back to when you sat in the pews with your parents and/or grandparents beside you and how much of an impact that had on you as a young person. The decision to have your child attend services has a far more profound effect on Jewish identity and education than we can imagine. 
I look forward to seeing many of you, and your children, at services in the weeks to come!
